Winter warnings

Highgate Fire Station are: “In the concepts” of preparing their Winter campaign to raise awareness of the issues the public may face during the end of the year.

The station aims to reduce road collisions because of the weather change, improve road safety such as booster seats and tyre conditions, as well as bonfires and festivity safety.

“We receive a high number of accidents during the Winter, due to incidents which could be easily avoided” explains Ty Bhogal, head of Highgate Fire Station’s creative PR team.

The campaign will be held from October 2016 to March 2017, covering topics such as health, cooking and smoking.

“Through October, the team aim to inform the community about health, by partnering with the health team and putting on public health talks.”

“We want to inform the public about ways they can protect themselves against infection, such as flu jabs” said Ty Bhogal.

During this time of the year, Highgate Fire Station claims that health becomes more of an issue.

This is why ‘at risk’ groups are urged to get the flu jab to protect themselves from becoming vulnerable.

Between November and December, Ty Bhogal said: “The fire station receives an increased number of cooking accidents, so our main focus is on festivity cooking and electrical safety at home.”

Highgate Fire Station’s objective is to reduce these incidents from occurring, by providing the community with guidance to remove these potential dangers.

Ty Bhogal said that: “We will do this by stating the dangers of smoking and how individuals may be affected by smoking, such as raising concerns of smoking in your own home.”

The campaign is in the progress of being finished, and Ty Bhogal wishes for the campaign to be social media driven by having a hashtag centred around these topics.
